Use Soda Pop to Stop A Bleeding Fish?

There has been articles out for a year or so stating that Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Coke, or other soda's with citric acid & sugar can stop a fish from bleeding if hooked bad. I have not had a bleeding fish since I learned this to try the theory out. Here is an article on it with Jonathon VanDam does. Click Here

Have any of you tried it and does it really work?

I tried it this weekend. Works great! If you have blood coming from the gill plates, dump the soda directly on the bleeding area, not the stomach, and it wills top bleeding. I talked to a few guys after the tournament and they do the exact same thing.

My partner as in a tournament with a different guy 2 weeks ago, who saved 2 of his 4 pounders he caught in the morning to win that days event.

I wish I could tell you what is in the soda that does this but it is amazing!

I have tried this in the past too and it works. There are always 2-3 cans of Dew in the tackle locker of the boat now just in case.
