Whats the the most reasonable Snowshoes?

I know there is a wide variety of snowshoes on the market. I would like to get my wife a pair. But whats the hype? Plastic,Wood, Aluminum,Carbon Fiber etc.. What is the best for the money? I have a hard time believing that the $300 pair is highly better than the $80 pair for walking though the snow.

I do not know much about them to be honest, but I found a wooden pair at a garage sale a few years ago. I use them to check my traps in the winter, along with a little hunting. They are fairly big but they seem to work great. Although I do not have anything to compare them too, they get the job done.

I did that a long time ago. Bought a set of ski's with a motor strapped on top of em. It does 110mph.. that fast enough for ya? lol

My wife would like to do snow shoeing in the woods up by us for exercise, and I know I need it too! lol So I am looking for a pair for her. Just think, some snowshoeing in the winter to keep the weight down will be a 3-4 mph gain in the springtime in the bass boat lol.
